Branch Digital Photo Frame

This was a quick one week project to style a seven inch digital photo frame. The project was done at WorkBeee Design in Shenzhen, China.

Final Presentation Slides:

The Branch takes formal inspiration from the life and function of plants. The form mimics a tree branch through a stylized random fractal. Branch is meant to help share photos with friends and family, and to remind us that we are all connected.

The Branch DPF has a 7" widescreen and a narrow footprint.

At first glance the frame appears to have no buttons. The only markings are four vertical lines on the front panel under the screen.

When touched, the buttons softly light up and the interface screen appears. The button functions are indicated on screen.

To browse photographs while not in the slideshow mode, the user slides their finger across two or more buttons in a gestural motion.

This makes the photographs on the screen slide forward or backward. The faster the slide, the more pictures will go by on the screen.

To keep the front face of Branch clean, the mic is located on the underside. Recorded sound bounces off the front leg and into the mic. Stereo speakers are located on each side, and all of the other inputs are located on the back.
